General Overview

She's a bit standoffish and reserved, mostly because she often feels like an outsider in Starfleet, someone who doesn't really belong. Never mind that she's getting close to "lifer" status at this point. At times she can also be a bit resentful of authority, a result of her criminal past. Nevertheless, she is hardworking and competent in her duties, and a loyal friend to those who know her. She also has an acerbic wit.

Personal History		Kiza was born of a brief, illicit relationship between a father who is a Starfleet officer and a mother who is a leader of note within the Orion Syndicate. She was raised into her teens by her mother, during which time she was part of the Syndicate's criminal enterprise and racked up a good-sized rap sheet. Her offenses included: Cultural insult and possession of an unauthorized weapon, Meridius VII. Petty theft, brandishing a weapon, and threatening a police officer, Tau Tucanae IV. Simple assault, Tandia IX. Disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace, Aldeberan. Attempted burglary, Gallinae IV. Interfering with police business, Boros III. Simple assault and disorderly behavior on the civilian cruise liner Astral Dreamer. Simple assault and destruction of public property, New Sydney Colony. Trespassing, assault on a public official, and impudence, Heli's Planet. Reckless operation of a shuttle craft and resisting arrest, Alkonost II. At age 16 she was "rescued" by her father. (In reality her mother arranged for her to be released into his care, so that she could have a better life). For a couple of years after that she lived with her father aboard his starship. It was a difficult adjustment, going from a life of juvenile delinquency to the straight-and-narrow life in the Federation, compounded by an uneasy relationship with a man she didn't know. She did, however, grow to enjoy life on the USS Republic, and eventually her and her father developed a tenuous bond, although Kiza was eager to strike out on her own. Her father offered to get her a spot at Starfleet Academy. Kiza, however, opted to join the enlisted ranks, as the thought of sitting in classrooms, learning about highly technical subjects, bored her. She also wanted to avoid being too much like her father, who attended the Academy and was himself a star student. She began her Starfleet career as a security crewman. She served in that field for several years and was good at it. Her insider knowledge of the criminal underworld, however, got the attention of the intelligence branch, and they recruited her.
